My First Thanksgiving

My first official holiday duty......learning how to mash up the roasted yams for mama

Up, down, splash & mash......

 Ta Da......'Voila....ready for the marshmallows

I watched the Macy's parade and got excited when I saw ELMO!  I watched football and the big kids play games before eating turkey

I am now the official ice cuber

Happy Thanksgiving
(for some reason I wasn't too interested in actually eating
the meal....just smashing and practicing my stirring techniques)

Words cannot express how full our hearts are at having Liliah home with us.  We remember last year how much we yearned for her and were so ready to just get on a plane to China and get her.  To now have her sitting at our table is still so amazing to us.

Family Time

Yeah, look who came to visit us.........Uncle Randy, Auntie Lori, Lacey & Kimberlee

My sister and her family came to enjoy a pre-Thanksgiving weekend with us.  They have never been to our home during the holidays so it was really special having them stay. We realized at one point that most of us were sitting with our laptops and Liliah was even on her play cell phone!  We had so much fun with you guys.....thank you for coming up and spending time with us.

We cooked ourselves up some Thanksgiving food and enjoyed each others company

Here is evidence of the homemade apple pie that my sister baked, YUMMY.  She doesn't even eat pie, but she sure knows how to make them.

We bundled up and did some shopping.  Darryl, Lilaih & I took some time out to feed the chicken & ducks.  This was her first time doing this and she loved it.

Come and get it...........

Liliah has just had some marionberry jam and I just couldn't miss the chance to capture.......she looked purplicious

Thank you for all of your prayers and well wishing.  Liliah is recovering nicely.  She's been a trooper and has been much happier at home.  We've had a week plus of not getting a full night sleep.  Last night was our first night where she did not awake in pain or crying.  We continue to monitor her closely during her awake hours and she is not allowed to feed herself (which is frustrating for her).  She is now eating soft foods and is refusing ice cream!  She really wants to eat regular food, but we have to keep things simple for her to manage with her palate and keep the pain to a minimal.  We will revisit the doctor sometime next week to check out his work & her progress.  She's stopped saying, GaGa for daddy and gog for maddy our dog.....but she can't pronounce her D's.  She can now say ELMO though and it was actually her first word she said at the hospital once she saw her diapers.  My mom & I got the chills hearing her say this on the first day out of surgery.  She will definitely need to continue her speech therapy.
